2014 winners announced for AAMoV Volunteer Manager Award of Excellence

On International Volunteer Managers Day, AAMoV announces the winner of our annual Volunteer Manager Award of Excellence. In 2013 AAMoV added a new category to recognise teams or groups of managers achieving great things in their community and this year, AAMoV is pleased to announce that the winner of the group or team Award is the Managers of Read Write Plus – Denise Johnsonand Mel Tarawhiti (NZ) (pictured below).
Denise and Mel honour, respect and believe that volunteers can and do make a significant contribution to the community. Both believe that everyone can improve and realise more of their potential with a bit of help. Denise and Mel constantly model a philosophy of continuous improvement within their roles and literacy program and share the value and benefits of volunteering within their communities.
AAMoV also has the pleasure to announce that the winner of the 2014 Individual Volunteer Manager Award of Excellence is Mary Garner(NZ) (pictured right), Manager Volunteer Services, Nelson Tasman Hospice. Mary is described as an excellent ambassador for the hospice movement and someone who keeps giving without expectation of reward of praise. Mary’s CEO recognises her as a remarkable lady and someone who coordinates and managers her volunteers in a caring and passionate way.
This year, AAMoV would also like to make a special commendation to Sharon Walsh (VIC). Sharon is a well-known, respected and admired Volunteer Manager who is renowned for her dedication toward the volunteer sector. Acknowledged by her peers as a ‘motivator, networker and volunteer expert’ she is a perfect example of a Volunteer Leader willing to go the extra mile to support, mentor and promote the true impact of volunteerism in her own organisation and others.
