On the 24th and 25th of February the AAMOV Board got together to finalise their strategy for our Association. Many aspects were covered in our intense discussions. Key amongst them was looking at better engagement with our members and stakeholders, seeking more benefits and professional development for our members, growing a louder voice and a larger sphere of influence and finding better and more agile ways of supporting and advocating for leaders in our field.
We looked at key partnerships that we must develop, how to grow our membership and how to find ways to have seats at the table of key decision makers in our sector. We want to have a better social media footprint and utilise technology better to engage with our people.
We reflected on our recent members survey and will take action on improvements needed.
We will be sharing more details soon on our strategic plan. We know we have a lot of work to do. We know we have challenges to even make our association viable into the future. But the dedicated volunteers who gathered around the table for two days on the weekend are passionate and dedicated because we believe that your role matters. We believe that professional leader of volunteers should have access to professional development and career advancement. We believe that you should hold key leadership positions in your organisation. We believe that volunteer leading organisations need to value and respect the role of volunteer leaders whatever your title.
We know that we could not exist without our members. But we also know that we need to grow our membership base in order to thrive. We have significant membership gaps in Tasmania, The Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales. We will work hard to make sure that all states territories, and New Zealand are strongly represented.
AAMOV is at a crossroads. We support the sector but we need cross sector support. We are the only association representing the voice of Volunteer Management in Australia and New Zealand. We will cooperate more, build better relationships but we will also speak out more for the people we represent.
We invite you to come on this journey with us. Join AAMOV today. Encourage your colleagues to join. As we support our sector partners we ask them to support us by building a positive relationship into the future. The volunteering sector is stronger with united partners.
